Our rupture discs are manufactured with chemical processing in mind – corrosion resistance, leak tightness, high accuracy and durability come standard.
The BDI-FLX Burst Disc Sensor System provides instantaneous notification of a burst rupture disc. When combined with an alarm monitor, this system protects lives, equipment and the environment.
Designed for use with ASME and DIN flanges or sanitary applications, the BDI-FLX employs a sensor strip with a flexible potentiometer (an electrical component that varies resistance in response to deflection) to signal a burst disc.
How the BDI-FLX Burst Disc Sensor System works
The BDI-FLX Burst Disc Sensor System maintains a continuous signal with an alarm monitor. If the disc bursts, the BDI-FLX Sensor System notifies the alarm monitor by opening the electrical circuit.
Continental Disc Alarm Monitors contain replaceable modules with individual channel relays. Each channel relay connects to one BDI-FLX Sensor System. As the rupture disc bursts and the BDI-FLX Sensor System indicates the event, a specific relay is actuated, sending a signal to the control panel.
The BDI-FLX Burst Disc Sensor System is available for gas or liquid applications
For full liquid applications, the BDI-FLX Sensor System requires sudden movement to signal. Slow reversal of the rupture disc, such as with liquid thermal expansion, will not cause the BDI-FLX Sensor System to indicate. A small crack in a rupture disc score will not cause the BDI-FLX Sensor System to indicate.
Note that the BDI-FLX Sensor System is designed to indicate within a few milliseconds, so full reversal and full opening of the rupture disc must occur within a few milliseconds. If full liquid flow at set pressure or a gas head will not be present during rupture of disc, contact us for an evaluation.
